Mississippi Now Allows Loan Origination to Be Conducted Remotely
Mississippi has enacted legislation allowing licensed mortgage companies to conduct loan origination activities from remote locations, effective July 1, 2025. To operate remotely, licensees must implement and maintain robust information security measures to protect consumer data and ensure regulatory compliance. These measures include keeping remote devices updated with current security patches and software, having the ability to remotely lock or wipe company data from devices, using risk-based monitoring and oversight protocols, conducting annual certifications to confirm remote originators meet required standards, and maintaining written policies and procedures to support compliance.
